About Benecia

Benecia Flores joined the Petrosewicz team on March 1, 2017, and is grateful to be part of a loving work family where she can focus her career in providing estate planning, probate, special needs planning, and Medicaid planning legal services. For over 25 years, in various roles, Benecia has helped countless elderly and disabled citizens of Texas obtain long term care Medicaid benefits. Benecia is from Floresville, Texas, a small town southeast of San Antonio, where she graduated from high school in 1992 and currently lives. In 1996, she obtained her bachelor’s degree from Trinity University, with a double major in psychology and sociology. After a brief period of employment in the office of a warden of a private prison, she landed a job with Texas Health and Human Services (then known as the Texas Department of Human Services) as a Medicaid caseworker for the aged and disabled. It was here that Benecia’s passion for the field of Elder Law was born. After working for HHSC in San Antonio for nine years, Benecia moved to Houston in 2006 to take a job as a paralegal for an elder law firm. While working full time for the law firm during the day, Benecia attended South Texas College of Law at night and obtained her J.D. in May 2016. She concentrated her studies in estate planning, probate, and income, estate and gift tax. Benecia is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Texas Bar College, Fort Bend County Bar Association, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Benecia has presented on the topics of estate planning, special needs planning, and Medicaid eligibility for various financial advisors, non-profit organizations, support groups, realtors, and the chamber of commerce. She has also presented at continuing legal education conferences for the State Bar of Texas and the University of Texas School of Law. Benecia loves to study Texas history, read about historical figures she knows little about, and explore the natural outdoor beauty of her native brushland in McCoy, Texas. Although Benecia cherishes her time living in the Pecan Grove neighborhood in Fort Bend County, she moved back to Floresville in 2021 to be closer to her loved ones, some of whom she has since lost. Benecia strives every day to provide quality, meaningful, and practical legal services to enrich the lives of her fellow beloved Texans.
